PDC UK Open 2021 Darts weekend
If it were up to Van Gerwen, he will be the winner of the 450,000-pound darts tournament this year. The final winner not only gets a lot of points for the ranking, a great cup and eternal fame. No, there is a check for 100,000 euros waiting for the darter who throws the winning arrow into the board on Sunday 7 March.
Van Gerwen is not the only contender for the 2021 edition. World champion Gerwyn Price, former world champion Peter Wright and the surprisingly strong Joe Cullen are also among the favourites. Also some strong names among the outsiders. Think of: Gary Anderson, Dimitri van den Bergh and Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Van Barneveld: “Goal continues to achieve World Cup”
But Raymond van Barneveld is “suddenly” one of the favourites at the Darts again: PDC UK Open. Barneveld won day 3 of The Players Championship by beating Joe Cullen in the final. Barney has fond memories of the UK Open. “I have already won this tournament, then in Bolton. But the goal is and remains to make it to the World Cup. Everything that comes my way to that World Cup in terms of major tournaments, I see as a bonus. ”
The Top-32 of the Order of Merit will only come in in the fourth round (from Saturday, March 6), but Van Barneveld’s turn will already be in the second round. The full draw of the first three rounds:
